What is stormwater runoff, how does it pollute our local waterways and what can we do to prevent it?

When rainfall runs across roads, lawns and golf courses, it can pick up pollutants before it enters local waterways. Mike Fritz from the Chesapeake Bay Program explains why so-called “stormwater runoff” is a major source of pollution to the Chesapeake Bay and what we can do to prevent it.

I don't commonly think that the fertilizer I put on my plants can later affect something like the oysters in the Chesapeake Bay. That type of stuff is very interesting.

Wow, I never knew that the litter I see on the ground eventually ends up in the bay.

It's so sad that people are taking down trees and forests. I do everything that I can to pick up trash at school and other places so it doesn't go to Chesapeake Bay. 23322 ~Alyssa
