The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is the primary federal government representative for the Chesapeake Bay Program.
One of the original signers of the 1983 Chesapeake Bay Agreement, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is the primary representative for the federal government for the Chesapeake Bay Program. The EPA also runs the Chesapeake Bay Program Office in Annapolis, Maryland.
Partner Offices and Programs in the U.S. EPA
- Environmental Monitoring and Assessment Program (EMAP) - A research program to develop the tools necessary to monitor and assess the status and trends of national ecological resources.
- National Estuary Program - Established in 1987 to identify, restore and protect nationally significant estuaries in the United States.
- Office of Air and Radiation - OAR develops national programs, technical policies and regulations for controlling air pollution and radiation exposure.
- Office of Water - The goals of the Office of Water are to provide clean and safe water, prevent pollution, and reduce environmental risks in homes, communities, workplaces, ecosystems and across borders.
- Region 3 - The Mid-Atlantic regional office is responsible for programs in Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia and the District of Columbia.
