Publication date: 1/1/1994 | Type of document: Report
Two overall goals are suggested to drive habitat restoration efforts within the Chesapeake Bay Program: 1) to expand the forest cover along streams, rivers, and shorelines of the Chesapeake Bay Watershed; 2) to increase the quality of instream habitat for migratory and resident fish through improved water temperature, cover, pool and spawning habitat.
Directive 94-3: Framework for Habitat Restoration
(27 KB)
Publication date: 10/14/1994 | Type of document: Directive
This Directive addresses historical habitats in the Chesapeake Bay watershed, the need to accelerate efforts to restore habitat across the basin to benefit living resources and directs the Bay Program to implement an integrated and comprehensive approach.
Adoption Statement - Aquatic Reef Habitat Plan
(13 KB)
Publication date: 12/1/1994 | Type of document: Adoption Statement

Ecosystem Effects of Oyster Restoration in Virginia Habitat and Lease Areas
(1.23 MB)
Publication date: 6/1/2006 | Type of document: Report
This report is the third in a series in which the Chesapeake Bay Environment Model Package was used to assess the environmental benefits of oyster restoration in the Chesapeake Bay. Here, the effects of oyster restoration to all potential Virginia oyster habitat were investigated.

Aquatic Reef Habitat Management Plan
Publication date: 12/1/1994 | Type of document: Fact Sheet
Designed to improve the ecology of Chesapeake Bay; the ecological value of the
oyster resource; to restore, augment, and set aside hard substrate on the Bay
bottom to enhance reef community development and improve aquatic habitat; and to
increase the stock of oysters in Chesapeake Bay
Chesapeake Bay Submerged Aquatic Vegetation Habitat Requirements and Restoration Targets: A Technical Synthesis
Publication date: 12/1/1992 | Type of document: Report
- The Chesapeake Executive Council's adoption of a Chesapeake Bay Submerged
Aquatic Vegetation Policy and an Implementation Plan for the SAV Policy
highlighted not only the need to develop SAV habitat requirements but also the
need for baywide restoration goals for SAV distribution, density, and species
diversity. In response to the commitments described in the SAV Policy
Implementation Plan, a working group of scientists and managers produced this
document.
Oyster Fishery Management Plan (1989)
Publication date: 7/1/1989 | Type of document: Management Plan
