This report describes trends in water and sediment qualitty, and in the living resources of Chesapeake Bay. The water quality parrameters evaluated include nutrients, dissolve oxygen, organic chemical compounds, and heavy metals. The living resources that were assessed include phytoplankton, submerged aquatic vegetation (SAV), benthic organisms (including shellfish) and finfish. Trends in water and sediment quality, and in living resources, including the interrelationshipsamong these factors, were used to characterize the current state of the Bay.
