Chesapeake Bay Program

this habitat restoration strategy is an attempt to examine the many benefits that a healthy riparian area bestows upon all species that interact with the Bay ecosystem, including man. Many psecies that are listed as endangered or threatened either live within or migrate through the Bay, as well as many economically important fishes. riparian forests provide food, cover, nutrient and toxics removal, and shade to upstream areas, all of which are necessary for a ecologically vital and dynamic watershed.
