Seminar with Dr. Lora Harris: Case Studies from a Coastal Ecologist Working at the County Scale

On the ground implementation of the Chesapeake Bay TMDL frequently occurs at the County-level in Planning Departments. Dr. Lora Harris will share her experiences working in an advisory and collaborative capacity with Calvert and Anne Arundel Counties over the past decade to bring science to the management and decision-making process at this local scale. In addition to sharing the research products that were developed over this time period to support local management needs, Dr. Harris will also discuss the context for creating trust in this public sphere that includes interactions with planning professionals, county commissioners, and involved local citizens.

Dr. Harris is an Associate Professor at the University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science where she is located at the Chesapeake Biological Laboratory in Solomons, MD.
