Each summer, the sellout crowd of 1,600 people gather on the beach, park their chair, kick off their shoes and celebrate and support the Chesapeake Bay at Bands in the Sand. With live music, local cuisine and cold drinks, this fundraiser is the best party of the summer.

Bands in the Sand is the brainchild of Franyo, a Chesapeake Bay Foundation trustee and owner of the Boatyard Bar and Grill in Eastport, Maryland. Over the last 10 years, the event has net nearly $2 million to support the Chesapeake Bay Foundation's efforts to defend and protect the Bay, including award-winning educational programs, on-the-ground restoration activities throughout the watershed and advocacy initiatives at both the federal and state level.
