What are nutria? Why are they harmful? And what are we doing to get rid of them? Find out here.

A team of wildlife professionals is on a mission to eradicate the destructive, invasive rodent nutria from the Chesapeake Bay's marshes. Steve Kendrot, wildlife biologist with the USDA Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS), leads us on a journey through an Eastern Shore marsh to find signs of nutria, and explains why it's so important for local landowners to support the eradication project.

We've lived in our home which backs up to a creek which eventually feeds into the Intercoastal Waterway since 1996 and never had an issue with wildlife UNTIL the past 6 months. It first started with our neighbor and now has spread to our home. We have nutria that are about 2 feet long and weigh 20 pounds or more and are being DESTRUCTIVE, leaving huge holes everywhere. We've called our pest control (no help), have informed the City of Virginia Beach (no help) and are at wits end trying to save our property from further destruction. Any advice or help you can give would be GREATLY appreciated
