In June 2022, Dr. Kandis Boyd stepped in as the Chesapeake Bay Program’s new director following a period of excellent leadership from our acting director, Michelle Price-Fay. With nearly thirty years of experience at some of the nation's top scientific institutions, including serving as the Deputy Director of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Office of Weather and Air Quality, Kandis is a “weatherproof” leader in the sciences who brings a unique perspective to our mission of restoring the Chesapeake Bay. In the above video, learn more about Kandis and her expertise in environmental modeling, grant management, science-based decision making and more.

Well done! I love the explanation of what is needed for a model and why - and also the call-out to the fact that there are always newcomers to the Bay watershed who will call it home - who have the opportunity to make a difference in restoring it along with those who’ve been here for a long time.
