EPA Chesapeake Bay Program awards historic amount of funding to grant programs guiding Bay restoration

Officials from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) as well as state and local governments gather to announce $216 million in Chesapeake Bay watershed restoration funding at Lubber Run Community Center in Arlington, Va., on March 26, 2024. The awards will support projects that benefit the Chesapeake Bay and its watershed for four years. They include $83 million from the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) and $120 million in regular appropriation funding to the National Fish & Wildlife Foundation (NFWF) to implement the small watershed grant and innovative and nutrient sediment reduction grant programs. $13 million will also go to the Chesapeake Bay Trust to administer a community capacity-building program.
