Sustainable Fisheries GIT Biannual Meeting Winter (2019-2020)

Purpose
The Sustainable Fisheries Goal Implementation Team is hosting our Biannual Meeting on January 7-8, 2020. Both days of the meeting will be held in the Davis Hall Owens-Bryant Board Room (room 102) at the Virginia Institute of Marine Science in Gloucester Point, VA. Parking will be available on campus across from Davis Hall (U11 on attached map) and marked as Event Parking. Please join us for an opportunity to hear about oyster restoration in the Chesapeake Bay, focusing on the theme of climate impacts to oysters. The agenda is dedicated to oysters with topics including restoration progress, new research supporting restoration, ecosystem services of restored reefs, intersections with water quality issues, nearshore habitats, and ecosystem changes impacting oysters. Meeting information will be posted as available. See agenda below. Where to Stay: A hotel block is set up for nearby Holiday Inn Express in Williamsburg (Busch Gardens area) at 480 McLaws Circle, Williamsburg, VA 23185. The hotel is just over 20 minutes by car from VIMS. Rooms are available at the government rate of $65 + tax per night (total $74.80) until December 20. Please make a reservation ASAP to guarantee the block rate by calling (757) 220-1100 and asking for the group name Sustainable Fisheries Team. What to Eat: Lunch will be provided both days on campus, as will coffee both mornings. To help with planning, please confirm the days that you will attend and note any dietary restrictions in the RSVP by December 20. You are welcome to join for an optional group dinner on Tuesday evening at Riverwalk Restaurant in Yorktown (323 Water Street A-1, Yorktown, VA 23690).
