Invasive Ivy Removal: Mount Olivet Cemetery

Join Casey Trees at Mount Olivet Cemetery as they partner with Save Our Trees , a local English Ivy removal organization, to clean up our green space and remove invasive English Ivy from the beautiful legacy trees on the property.

You provide the volunteers, we provide all the necessary tools and supplies to remove invasives and care for this green space. Participants will receive a short, hands-on training on site. After learning the tools and techniques, participants will split up into groups and begin working throughout the cemetery.

Register now! The week before this event, we will send a logistics and directions email with detailed information about how to get to the site. You will receive this email ONLY if you are signed-up for this event.

Who should attend?

Anyone! Open to the general public, you do not need any prior experience to join us and on-site training will be provided.

Requirements

Register: Register in advance. Space is limited. If your plans change prior to the event, please update your registration status so we are sure to have the necessary number of volunteers.

Waiver: All volunteers must pre-register and sign a completed volunteer waiver form BEFORE participating in the volunteer event.

Youth Volunteers: Youth volunteers who have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 may attend our events with a parent or guardian.

Clothes and shoes: Dress comfortably and appropriately for the weather. We recommend long pants and other protections for sun, bugs and poison ivy. Please wear closed toed shoes, boots are preferred over sneakers.

Skills: No specific skills or tools required. Each event starts with a tool safety and planting demonstration. Volunteers work alongside experienced staff.

Arrival: Arrive on time. Check-in opens a half hour prior to the indicated start time and volunteers must be present for the tool safety demonstration at the start of the event.

Water: Bring a full water bottle! Water will be available on site if needed.

Food: No food will be provided on site, please pack in any food you would like to eat during the event.

Animals: No animals are allowed into the event, except for service animals.

COVID-19 Policy: Casey Trees is now requiring all attendees to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 to attend our events. One of the following options will demonstrate proof of vaccination:

- A physical Center for Disease Control (CDC) Vaccination Card

- A digital copy/photo of a CDC Vaccination Card

- A COVID-19 Verification App such as VaxYes or CLEAR

Please bring a photo ID and one of the above listed options to provide proof of vaccination. You may not be asked to show proof of vaccination during our outdoor event, however you may need to show proof of vaccination to use any indoor facilities.

Parking: Street parking may be limited.
