    CANCELLED: Land Use Workgroup conference call, October 2016

    October conference call for the Land Use Workgroup has been cancelled. Contact Lindsey Gordon (gordon.lindsey@epa.gov) with questions. The CBPO Land Data and GIS Teams are working to complete the Phase 6 Land Use Database and disseminate it for local review for all counties by Monday, October 17th. Currently, the models required to translate the high-res land cover classes into Phase 6 land uses are in their final stage of testing and the input data directories are being evaluated for completeness. All of the local land use and parcel data received through the spring of 2016 have been converted to their appropriate inputs for use in the Phase 6 land use models. Implementation of the models will be automated over multiple computers and monitored for errors. Our next LUWG call will be Wednesday, November 2nd, when we will discuss local review comments and questions about the draft Phase 6 land use data and the final steps needed to produce the 1984-2013 land use inputs to the Phase 6 watershed model. During the November call, we will also discuss feedback received from the WQGIT’s October Face-to-Face meeting on the schedule and technical plan for producing the 2025 land use dataset.

A recording of the webinar can be viewed using the following link: http://epawebconferencing.acms.com/p806rx2p1bu/ The Chesapeake Bay Program’s Land Use Workgroup will present a 2-hour webinar on Tuesday, September 20, from 1-3 p.m. on the process for local government review of new Bay Program land use data. The data is being used to inform the next generation of models, currently under development, for estimating nutrient and sediment loads to the Chesapeake Bay and the effects of Best Management Practices on those loads. The main portion of the webinar will cover how the land use data was produced and how it will be used in the model. The new land use data incorporates data submitted to the Bay Program by a number of local governments. The webinar will address how local governments can review the data and how the Bay Program will respond to comments. To ensure that the CBP has accurately interpreted local land use and parcel data, the CBP is seeking local and external review of these final land use datasets. This review process is open to all interested parties, but it is especially intended for local governments to participate in it. The webinar will include an online facilitated question and answer session. The webinar will be recorded for subsequent viewing. Lunch orders for Jimmy John's will be taken on the morning of the meeting. Prices range from $5-$15, so if you plan to place an order, please bring cash with you. Link: http://www.chesapeakebay.net/groups/group/land_use_workgroup Peter Claggett, USGS Land Use Workgroup Coordinator, and Cassandra Pallai, Geospatial Project Manager Chesapeake Conservancy, will lead a webinar detailing the review process of the Phase 6 land use data by local jurisdictions. Please use the following link to access the Phase 6 land use reviewer website: http://chesapeake.usgs.gov/phase6/ During its first hour, the webinar will cover the purpose, content, and benefits of the new data for informing local, state, and regional decisions. Two websites have been built to facilitate the dissemination and review of the data. The webinar will explain how to use these websites and address the schedule and expectations for the review process. The second hour will be reserved for online discussion and questions. We ask that all participants submit questions through the Adobe Connect chat box, and not over the phone lines.
