Celebrate the achievement of the Chesapeake Bay Watershed Agreement Oyster Outcome
Chesapeake Bay Program partners complete large-scale restoration of 11 oyster reefs
Partners in the world’s largest oyster reef restoration effort will mark the completion of the 2014 Chesapeake Bay Watershed Agreement outcome to restore oyster reef habitat in 10 Bay tributaries by the end of 2025. The final two tributaries—the Manokin River in Maryland and the Lynnhaven River in Virginia—were completed this year.
The program will include speakers from Bay-wide partners involved in this monumental effort to discuss how it was achieved, why it was so critical and highlight the economic and environmental benefits the restored oyster reef habitat is bringing to the Chesapeake and its surrounding communities.
