Stewardship Lightning Talks — June 2026

At this quarter's Chesapeake Bay Stewardship Workgroup meeting, we'll kick off the meeting with lightning talks from two stewardship champions across the watershed. First up, learn from Justin Doyle how the James River Association leverages volunteer Green Infrastructure Stewards to work alongside their staff to maintain stormwater best management practices at public libraries across Richmond, VA. The program improves the effectiveness of managing stormwater at these sites, while also protecting native plants and fostering community support for green infrastructure. Then, learn from Meredith Prescott how Chesapeake Climate Action Network mobilizes volunteers in D.C., Maryland, and Virginia to save thousands of trees, connect with community members, and empower residents to take ownership of their local trees.
