The Milestones Workgroup provides a forum to discuss the two-year milestones associated with the Watershed Implementation Plans that inform the Chesapeake Bay Total Maximum Daily Load, or Bay TMDL.

The Milestones Workgroup is a team of people representing jurisdictions, federal agencies and interested stakeholders to provide a forum to discuss the two-year milestones associated with the Watershed Implementation Plans that inform the Chesapeake Bay Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL). The workgroup reports directly to the Water Quality Goal Implementation Team.

Functions and objectives of the Milestones Workgroup include to:

  • Discuss the development, evaluation and tracking of the two-year milestones;
  • Provide recommendations and feedback to EPA on the status and process of using two-year milestones to aid in meeting the Chesapeake Bay TMDL allocations;
  • Provide a partnership forum during development of milestones to resolve anticipated issues and foster information exchanges among the Chesapeake Bay watershed jurisdictions and federal agencies; and
  • Assist in the development of a tracking database for milestone activities.
