Rock Creek is a 3-mile, 873 acre estuary in northern Anne Arundel County, Maryland (Figure 1). It is a tributary to the Patapsco River, just upstream from the river's mouth of the Chesapeake Bay. Rock Creek's watershed encompasses 2523 acres about half of which is develpedwith residential hoursing. The U.S. Congress was alerted to the situation in Rock Creek. In a report dated September 12, 1989, the Senate Appropriations Committee directed the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to work with the Corps of Engineers to devise an acceptable solution. Dynamac Corporation prepared this report for the EPA to fulfill the committee"s request for a statement of progress in the cleanup effort.
