The House and Senate Committies on Appropriations in their approval of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) FY92 Operating Plan directed EPA to conduct a stidu of the Anacostia River. This study "should include...ana analysis of the extent ti which pollution in the Anacostia River is harming the Bay's ecosystem; what steps are needed to restore the Anacostia's water quality and a timeline showing when these steps could be met; potential roles for EPA in the Anacostia River clean-up and that of other federal agencies; and an inventory of activities currently underway to restore the river."
