About
The Science & Analytical Support Team, previously known as Scientific, Technical Assessment & Reporting (STAR), helps goal teams, workgroups and action teams use science to advance the goals and outcomes of the Chesapeake Bay Watershed Agreement. Its roles and responsibilities include:
- Facilitate coordination and collaboration among physical and social science providers.
- Synthesize and communicate scientific results and ecosystem conditions to aid in science-informed management decisions.
- Engage with the Scientific & Technical Advisory Committee and its recommendations for enhancing Chesapeake Bay Program science and implementation.
- Provide support for other scientific, technical and analytical issues that are outside the responsibility of a single goal team or workgroup but that benefit the partnership at large.
Projects
Targeting Resources to Achieve Multiple Outcomes
In ProgressThis project is designed to develop a strategic, science-based approach to better target federal and state resources to the places, and towards the types of activities, that accelerate progress for multiple outcomes.
Dissolved Oxygen Profiling
In ProgressThis project will pilot a cost-effective, real-time dissolved oxygen vertical monitoring system for characterizing mainstem Chesapeake Bay hypoxia.
Strategic Science and Research Framework
CompleteThis framework was developed to help focus existing science resources, leverage the research enterprise and more effectively provide science to advance Chesapeake Bay Program efforts and decision-making.
Measuring and Explaining Water Quality Changes
CompleteThis project enhanced the analysis and explanation of water quality monitoring information.
Cross-Goal Team Mapping Project
CompleteThis project identified places where Goal Implementation Teams (GITs) can more effectively collaborate and make progress toward interrelated Chesapeake Bay Watershed Agreement outcomes.
