Alex Gunnerson joined Chesapeake Research Consortium (CRC) as an environmental management staffer for the Chesapeake Bay Program’s Scientific, Technical Assessment, and Reporting (STAR) team in September 2021. Alex supports multiple teams within STAR through administrative support, technical work as needed, and the operations and enhancement of the Strategic Science and Research Framework. Alex is a graduate of the George Washington University and holds a B.A. in Geography and International Affairs with a concentration in International Environmental Studies and a minor in Geographic Information Systems. Prior to working with CRC, Alex interned with Montgomery County, MD’s Climate Planning Team to help develop their Climate Action Plan and with the NASA DEVELOP program to build a tool in Google Earth Engine that monitors Californian bar-built estuaries using remotely sensed data. His interests include conservation, remote sensing, GIS, desertification, the Middle East and North Africa, environmental law, water resources, and estuaries.
